This is my tribute page to Barry Sparks

Barry Sparks stepped into my life when he recorded one of the best albums of the 90's,

"Written In The Sand" by the Michael Schenker Group.

In my mind the best MSG album to date - this added to the two LIVE albums,

"The Michael Schenker Story - 25th Anniversary LIVE in Tokyo" and "The Unforgiven WORLD TOUR",

Barry has been part of the best line-up that Michael has had in recent years.

Barry has appeared with some of the Rock Greats, go and visit the Discography Section on

the Official Barry Sparks Web Site to see that his career spans 21 albums - no mean achievement

Barry Sparks

Rocker Barry Sparks began performing at the age of ten. His musical motivation was inspired

by watching KISS and having a big brother who played guitar in a band. Determined not to be left

out of the action, the young Sparks picked up the bass and was soon to be in demand!

In 1988 Barry joined the L.A. rock scene and played in several bands before connecting

with Guy MANN DUDE, who insisted that he join on a 'short tour' that lasted over two years!

Yngwie MALMSTEEN'S drummer Mike TERRANA heard Sparks perform on that tour

and remembered Barry a couple of years later when the Swedish shredder was searching for a bassist.

During a recent interview with Carvin, Sparks said

"It was a real twist of fate to get that gig because I didn'thave an asudition. I talked with

Yngwie on the phone, and then sent him a cassette tape of some of the stuff I'd done.

He called back right away and said 'Pack it up, see you in the studio'. Thats when we

recorded the Magnum Opus record. I ended up recording the "'I Can't Wait' record and the 'Live at Budikan'

video with him, along with two world tours".

When Malmsteen decided to take an extended leave of absence, Barry's phone rang again. This time it was the

legendary Michael Schenker on the line. Immediately, Sparks was back in action! This time

he was called upon to join MSG. Barry went on to record "Written In The Sand" and two LIVE

albums, "The Michael Schenker Story - 25th Anniversary LIVE in Tokyo" and "The Unforgiven WORLD TOUR"...

... skipping along to the present day 2004 and Barry has a new album, Can't Look Back' featuring guest performances by

Ted Nugent and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top - See Above. More to follow...
