HERE is a FANS REVIEW - Thanks MORTIS
Pete Way, Vinnie Moore and Mortis 30.10.2007 Legends a hard-fate group " UFO " Hard Rock? Hallelujah! The scented clutches of a siren's lament By 19-00 I, certainly, was late because of a traditional transport collapse. Features how inconveniently to reach in "Teleclub" by a trolley bus or ?????????! For the sake of justice I shall tell, that for me it was unique ????? for an evening... On the approach to club it was found out, that the majority come on a concert just had the personal transport. And it it is no wonder: the basic part of public - the people finished(stopped) in 70th years institutes, given birth children and left in army. Today they are decent uncles and ????????, the majority from which just now can see idols of the youth alive. The spacious premise(room), the polite personnel, magnificent light and greater(big) stage - owing to these factors, and also to that the club constantly does(makes) work above mistakes(errors) by way of a sound (under a ceiling recently have appeared sound absorbers), "Teleclub" can quite become the best platform for carrying out fate-concerts in Ekaterinburg. Show have detained almost on an hour, therefore I managed to look performance(statement) UFO from the beginning up to the end. The hall was full, but, as always in "Teleclub", the place has sufficed all: you want - travel on a hall in searches of the best sound and-or a picture, you want - ??????? in bars, and you want - listen to music, sitting for a little table and sipping rum or tequila. Performance(Statement) has begun somehow languidly. Besides I with grief ascertained a decent degree of intoxication of musicians that put under doubt quality and duration of a concert. However from the second song all has risen on the places, musicians, probably, have forgotten that have drunk(cut), and have given out the real charcoal hard-fate in spirit Rainbow and Deep Purple. From all concerts in "Teleclub" a sound on it(this) was the best, besides after 3-4 songs have added bottoms, and has begun to sound in general all. Guitarist Winnie "Professor" Moore who has joined group only in it(this) to year, was magnificent. It it is no wonder, considering, that behind its(his) shoulders already 3 tremendous solo albums. It(he) played exclusively on guitars Dean and during all evening riveted attention of a hall flashing solo. ??? ???? perfectly sang, a spit a rack above a head, and bass player Pit Vej "shot" at a hall pathos Gibson Thunderbird, pleasing surrounding with the striped stockings in spirit Iron Maiden. The keyboard player Floor ??????? dexterously consulted both with two "Tritons", and with a guitar on which it(he) in some songs accompanied the Professor. Certainly, old men any more what were 20 years ago, but the more respect causes that fact, that they continue to storm musical platforms worldwide. More close to the middle of show of technics(technical equipment) have born(have taken out) to Moore an acoustic guitar on a rack - time favourite for Russian ??????? songs UFO «Belladonna» has come. A song, certainly, good, but I never understood an agiotage around of it(her). Why ??????? group which has such insurgents how Doctor Doctor, Rock Bottom, Love To Love, Cherry, and Only You Can Rock Me it became popular in Russia owing to a ballad? Which they, unfortunately, and have not finished up to the end, than have upset many. However the second part of a concert has shaken all on full. It was incendiarier mix fate ` ? ` a beater, a blues and a hard-fate.. Everywhere it was felt, that ????? has got into all and everyone (the barman, hopping, poured to me the next cocktail). After ???????????????? ???? UFO have left for side scenes, having left at a hall precise confidence - they will leave once again. Two numbers encore, and a concert have been ended. Owing to V.Y.Salavarova's arrangement with organizers, we with my friend and the expert(auditeur) on a hard-fate Dmitry Zhiltsovym have got for a stage where have set to musicians some questions and have made pair photos for memory. Here a fragment of conversation: - how to you Russian public? World(Global) stars a hard-fate infrequently please Urals Mountains with the visits, therefore arrival UFO has appeared a pleasant gift for fans(amateurs) of this music. For someone the last show - nostalgia on vinylic ??????????, to self-made guitars and the left youth, for someone - simply good hard, and for all together - classics fate-culture of XX century. © 2007 Mortis --- SET LIST 1. Mista Pahhhkkka has given as an insight to the Russian Tour, with links to some photos. Its great to hear personally from band members, so thanks Andy for 'keeping it so real'.
Diary Update - 26th November 2007 Well we made it! There were times when I began to think we wouldn't, but we did. What am I talking about, you ask? The recent UFO tour of Russia and the Ukraine, I answer! Let me begin by saying that in no way am I knocking the promoters. They were absolutely great and really took care of us. It's just that touring in that part of the world was so-o-o-o different to what we are used to. Firstly there was the travelling. Due to the vast distances involved and the apparent lack of decent roads, this was accomplished mostly by plane and train. In hindsight this was probably a good thing, because they have some of the worst traffic jams that I have ever seen. The planes were old, the trains even older. Fortunately there was always an ample supply of alcohol to help things along (an absolute necessity when it comes to getting Pete on a plane). That can be a problem on the trains though, when you have been drinking beer all day and they insist on locking the toilets every time you get within twenty miles of station. Happily the small pliers on my multitool solved this problem. Of course being inebriated can sometimes come in really handy. Let's say for example, you're out in the corridor at three in the morning because it's too hot in your compartment and you can't sleep. Suddenly you are presented with a vision of Pete Way, stark naked, lumbering towards you in some kind of vodka fuelled semi-stupor. Believe me, you would not want to see that sober! Apparently 'What it was, was...." he had a cramp and was walking it off. Scary none the less. Next came the equipment. Because of the transportation problems the promoter had arranged for the gear to be supplied at each venue. This turned into a kind of lottery draw. Every day we would wait with expectation for Tonio (our tour manager) to text us with a list of what we would be using that evening. Exciting times, I can tell you! For any of you who are drummers, you know how hard it can be using unfamiliar equipment, so it was always nail biting stuff. Would there be two bass drums or only one? Would I have any cymbals worth using? Some nights I won, some nights I lost, but all in all I have to say they did a pretty good job! Finally there were the fans. Now, if you think that I have been somewhat negative about the whole experience so far, that is not my intention. I just want to give you an idea of how different this tour was from what we are used to. This goes double for the audiences. They were so appreciative, they made us feel really welcome. For a band that is used to having to break new markets, it was a novel experience to go to a country for the first time and be so well received. Thank you all. Point of interest, Belladonna from No Heavy Petting was a huge hit in Russia. Who knew? Certainly not us until we got there. Anyway, that's about it. If any of you get offered a tour of Russia or the Ukraine, go for it. Just be aware it's not like anything you have experienced before. I for one am very glad to have had the chance, and hopefully will get to go again some time soon. Many thanks to all at Spika, Alexi, Dennis and Peter. Thanks to all the local promoters, especially Andre, the promoter in Kaliningrad. Not only did you wine and dine us, but your moving speech, beautifully translated by the lovely Helena, really brought a lump to my throat. It made us realise just how much our music has meant to you and many others over the years. Lastly, thanks to Aeroflot for getting us there safely and for finally finding Phil's luggage... on the last day of the tour. Spasibo and Nostrovia! p.s. There are a few photos from the tour HERE
