GUITARFEST

Thanks to Wolfie (Richard Ward) for the following report:

After a rushed friday I made this just in time to watch the quireboys
who never disappoint. In their 40 minute set they ran through some of
their older stuff, There She Goes, This Is Rock N Roll, 7 O'Clock
(played at 10 past seven) and stuff of the new Homewreckers &
Heartbreakers album - which prompted me to listen to the album this morning.

Vinnie was up next, introduced by Pete Way. To his backing track he
played some of his best solo stuff; The Maze, Meltdown, Ridin' High.
It's just a shame that Phil et al were'nt there. It was a nice UFO
sized stage with great sound and lighting - reminding me of Chepstow.

Marco Mendoza was up next with his brand of varied funk, rock, blues.
With Soren Anderson on guitar and stand in drummer Brent Fitz for an
absent Tommy Aldridge.

Mendoza and Fitz then joined Thunder Trio Luke Morley, Danny Bowes &
Ben Matthews for some covers of Bad Company and Thin Lizzy.

This was then followed by Dave Mustaine and Shaun Drover who did just
one song, Peace Sells. Again with Mendoza and Soren Anderson. This
didn't bother me as I don't really care for Megadeth, but it must
have pissed off the Megadeth fans who were expecting more than just
one song. For me, all this was excelent value for a recession busting
£10. The only problem was an £8 parking charge and £3.50 for half a
pint of tasteless lager

Here is a YouTube vid, which I stumbled on when searching for 'Guitarfest' of the Guitar Fest in Chile - last May 2008:
